Larson's Lights

Something in this radar does not belong. Freezing rain / sleet / rain are not friends to Larson’s Lights. Given the challenges we had last evening keeping things going, we are expecting more of the same or worse tonight. We plan to attempt to run, and will post later today one way or another. In general, we shut down when multiple gfi’s trip, it is raining or dangerous to our equipment (and the homeowners). We make every attempt to run when possible. Please check back later today to see if we are up or not.

Welcome to opening night! We made it!

With how wet the snow is we are having a few of our display elements not fully up and running due to water tripping the gfi’s. They will be back up as the temperature drops and the water freezes.

As always a few friendly reminders please:

– For your safety and to keep our display running – we ask that you do NOT enter the display area. There are miles of extension cords and data cords running through the yard. Tripping on any one of these could cause the entire display to shut down. Please stay behind the arch fence for your safety and the safety of our display.

– Don’t block our neighbors driveways.

– When turning around always do so safely and at an intersection instead of a private driveway.

– No loud music.

– We can’t run the display in the rain and will post when we have to shut the display down due to rain.

– Hours our lights are on:

Sunday – Thursday 4:30 – 10:00pm

Friday – Saturday 4:30 – 11:00pm

9 inches of snow and only one gfi tripped 🙂. Hoping the rain holds off Friday so we can open as planned!

Exciting progress!

The mega tree is up!! It took us almost 4 hours to get it set up. We felt like it was a huge accomplishment and took a day off to rest. With Greg and I setting up for 9 days straight we needed a break.

We will be back at it tonight after work as we try to beat the snow that is coming!

Four days and counting!

We continue to run into challenges at every turn. Our first weekend of set up half of our crew were sick and ended up leaving early to go to the doctor. Changes in work schedules reduced our crew as well. Then the following weekend we were down with the crud and that Wednesday Greg had surgery on his elbow. Thank god for Jeff and all of his help without it we couldn’t have gotten as far as we have.

Tomorrow, Saturday will be interesting as we will be attempting to hang the lights on the mega tree with half of the people. I hope we can get it done!

Some years things go without a hitch and others it fights us every step of the way. This is one of the years it’s fighting us.

Love, patience and hard work have been key.
